The village of Parghelia has several small supermarkets selling fresh local produce. As Parghelia is located at the bottom of the hill from Marasusa it is possible to fetch fresh bread in the morning. Whilst in the village why not also visit the wine shop for later in the evening!!! The wine shop (right) sells local wine by the litre at very low prices (EUR 2 per litre). As life in Calabria runs at a slow pace, when in Parghelia you can stop for a quick cappuccino or a delicious famous Italian Ice cream.
The narrow streets and squares of Tropea are home to a good number of shops selling local produce and foodstuffs. The shopkeepers are friendly and are proud of their produce, being only too happy to tell you what you should do with certain ingredients to achieve a great taste when cooking! Some even let you sample the food and drink!
There are also plenty of souvenir, Italian fashion and convenience shops.
A modern shopping mall, The Vibo Centre is located at Vibo Valentia, 25km from Marasusa. The Vibo Centre is well sign posted from Tropea and everything can be found under one roof with ample parking. There are well over 60 shops featuring electrical, clothing, food etc.
Further a field in Reggio Calabria there are all the designer boutiques that you would expect from the birth place of the famous designer Versace. Reggio offers a wide selection of sophisticated shopping centred around Garibaldi, the main pedestrian high street.
What a truly fantastic place. I’d always recommend Marasusa Holiday Village.Miss J - Edinburgh
